Seminar Overview
The Ottawa Region Charity & Not-for-Profit Law Seminar is designed to assist charities and not-for-profit organizations in understanding developing trends in the law in order to reduce unnecessary exposure to legal liability. This seminar is eligible for 5 hours CPD credits.
The Charity & Not-for-Profit Law Seminar, with its related Church & Charity Law Seminar held annually in Toronto since 1994, is hosted by Carters Professional Corporation, a law firm experienced in advising charities and not-for-profit organizations with offices in Ottawa and the Toronto area. The seminar is presented by a number of expert speakers, including guests Cathy Hawara, Director General of the Charities Directorate of CRA, and Kenneth Goodman, Acting Public Guardian & Trustee.

Seminar Details
The seminar, to be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the Travelodge Convention Centre, Ottawa West, 1376 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Complimentary coffee, tea and muffins will be served at 7:45 a.m., as well as during a mid-morning break.
The early registration fee of $40.00 per person has been kept to a minimum in order that as many charities and not-for-profits can attend as possible. This fee helps to underwrite the cost of the facilities, coffee, tea, muffins, and handout materials, but does not include lunch. A catered sandwich lunch can be purchased at the hotel for $9.50, or ordered in advance using the attached or online registration form. Presentations will be in "PowerPoint" format and summary handouts will be provided.
