Mark J. Wong, of Carter & Associates in Orangeville, Ont., says charities are uncertain about which, if any, of their activities are caught by what they see as vague terminology in the act, and are concerned about how their limited budgets will be able to support the costs if they have to comply. He also says the expansion of the application of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) has charities contemplating expected provincial legislation, and wondering what compliance that will force on them. 'A lot of charities...are very concerned about the application of this act towards them,' says Wong. .
