In an email to stakeholders on February 13, 2026, the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement (Ministry) announced that the ServiceOntario Account for businesses was becoming the Ontario Business Account effective February 23, 2026. The email stated that no action is required at this time from existing ServiceOntario Account users, as their accounts and data will be securely transferred. This change is part of the Ministry’s “ongoing commitment to provide easier access to the existing services businesses need and improve their experience, making it simpler, clearer, and more convenient.” The Update reflects feedback from business users and consultations with key stakeholder groups.

The Ontario Business Account will serve as a central entry-point where businesses can manage their identity, access services, and be recognized by government through one consistent profile. It will provide access to a wide range of services, including business registration, electronic forms, and other resources. Users will also benefit from a personalized workspace that includes recent activity, quick access to services, and real-time notifications through a single, streamlined dashboard.

Existing users will continue to use their current ServiceOntario login credentials to access the new Ontario Business Account. As part of the login process, users will complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) and answer five simple questions to confirm their business details. Once setup is complete, users can access business registration services, including the Ontario Business Registry (OBR), through the main dashboard.

Stakeholders are directed to visit ontario.ca for more information on OBR services.

The Ministry also posted a notice regarding electronic forms and potential changes, which was last updated on February 23, 2026. Electronic forms from the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) have moved from the ServiceOntario Account to the Ontario Business Account effective February 23, 2026.
