UPDATE
1.New Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (“CNCA”)
•Canada Corporations Act (“CCA”) has not been substantively
amended since 1917
•On June 23, 2009 Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (“CNCA”) received Royal Assent
•CNCA was proclaimed into force on October 17, 2011
•The new rules do not apply automatically
to CCA corporations
•Existing CCA corporations will have
until October 17, 2014 to continue under
the CNCA or face dissolution
