Political Activities (Permitted Up To Prescribed Limits)
•An activity is presumed to be political if a charity
–Explicitly communicates a call to
political action, or to the public that the
law, policy or decision of any level of
government in Canada or a foreign country should be retained, opposed or changed, or
–Explicitly indicates in its material
that its activity is intended to incite,
organize or pressure governments to retain,
oppose or change the law, policy or
decision of a government
•Political activities are permitted if
they are: non-partisan, connected
to and subordinate to charity's purpose, and falls within 10%
of resource spending limit
•However, how resources (i.e., funds, property and people)
is to be calculated is not clear
•
