Nancy E. Claridge B.A., M.A., LL.B.
Ms. Claridge was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006 and joined Carters to practice in the areas of
corporate and commercial law, anti-terrorism law, real estate law, commercial leasing, charity and
not-for-profit law and wills and estates, in addition to being the firm's research lawyer and
assistant editor of the firm's publications. She is Director of the Dufferin County Law Association
and a member of the the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
Ms. Claridge graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2005, where she received the Dean's
Gold Key Award and the Legal & Literary Society's Student Honour Award. While at Osgoode
Hall, Ms. Claridge was a Senior Editor for the Osgoode Hall Law Journal, Editor-in-Chief of the
Obiter Dicta, Osgoode's weekly newspaper, as well as participating with the Innocence Project,
an Osgoode Hall programme that works to release the wrongfully convicted. Ms. Claridge
obtained a B.A. (Hons.) and an M.A. in political science from York University in 1994 and 1996,
respectively.
Prior to attending Osgoode Hall, Ms. Claridge spent several years developing online Canadian
legal research databases for LexisNexis Canada, including the creation of a Canadian citations
database for Shepard's. Ms. Claridge also contributed to texts on legal research, as well as
writing for various online and print publications focusing on personal injury law, criminal law
(young offenders), and human rights. As a research assistant at Osgoode Hall, Ms. Claridge
conducted research for Canadian Conflict of Laws, 5th ed., and assisted in editing The Civil
Litigation Process, 6th ed.
While articling with Carters, Ms. Claridge gained experience in the areas of charity and not-for-
profit law, corporate/commercial law, civil litigation and anti-terrorism law, as well as contributing
to several Charity Law Bulletins.
